A Special Thanks
The Elizabeth Fry Society of Ottawa wishes to thank the Ottawa Police Services Special Constables Unit, especially Constable Trevor Butler and Constable Remi Bertrand, for their support and donation of $1500.00 representing half of the proceeds of their charity golf tournament. We are delighted that they chose the Elizabeth Fry Society of Ottawa as a recipient organization of the golf tournament and wish to give thanks to all who participated as well as those who assisted in organizing the event. The money will be used to support the work of the Elizabeth Fry Society of Ottawa at the court house.
"We would like to thank lifetime member Sybil for her recent kind and generous
donation toward the relocation of JF Norwood House. Your generosity inspires us to
keep up the work to relocate and expand the residence. Our goal is to provide a
better space to help even more women succeed in turning their lives around."
How You Can Help
The Elizabeth Fry Society of Ottawa welcomes the support of people who are interested in the unique issues that can put women at risk of coming into contact with the law. You can help by providing a tax deductable financial contribution or donation-in-kind to assist us in this work.
All support is most welcome.
Every year, The Elizabeth Fry Society of Ottawa holds a holiday celebration in order to ensure that those who are homeless, who live in poverty, who struggle with mental illness, isolation and addiction – that all of the most marginalized participate in the celebration of the holiday spirit!
This year the celebration takes place Friday, December 13, 2013 from 4:00pm - 7:00pm. Our goal every year is to ensure that every woman and child who comes receives a gift and a hearty celebratory meal and we hope that you will be able to make a contribution.
Monetary donations above $25.00 in value will receive a charitable tax receipt. Please see our wish list to see how else you can help: Holiday Wish List

As you know, at The Elizabeth Fry Society of Ottawa we are devoted to helping women and female youth who are, or may be, at risk of coming into conflict with the law. We offer a variety of different programs and services to provide women with confidential and supportive living and learning environments. Women of all ages are referred to Elizabeth Fry Society of Ottawa by the officials working in the criminal justice system, by lawyers, medical professionals, social workers, social assistance workers, and by staff of community-based organizations and agencies. Women also seek out our services through word-of-mouth referrals and self-referrals. Through our programs and services, we help women and their families make changes... one step at a time, and we have been successful in doing so for over 50 years!
And this year we are working toward expanding our transitional house for women – J.F. Norwood House. As part of this, through the HBC Rewards Community Program, we hope to collect enough points to help us outfit the new and expanded J.F. Norwood House.
